We all breathe all day long but some people breathe very shallowly especially the more stressed or anxious they are.
This in turn increases the cortisol levels in the body when is pro-inflammatory and contribute to more weight gain and problems in the body.
Focussing on my breathing has become very important to me.
I am mindful of how I am breathing and when I catch myself breathing shallowly (granted this is not very often anymore, I refocus my breathing)
Yin or diaphragmatic breathing can have a massive impact on the body in a very positive way.
- more I deeply I breathe throughout the day
- more energy I have in my body
- calmer my nervous system calmer my mind
- more my body heals stronger my immune system
- more oxygen I have in my body
- more alkaline my body
- less inflammation there is in my body
Diaphragmatic breathing can influence your lymphatic system ( this clears out the toxins from the body, a sluggish lymph means your body can not clear the backload of toxins that is building up inside)
Yin breathing helps your body access the parasympathetic nervous system where the body's rest restore, digest rebalance takes place. Essentially the body gets to heal and repair here.
The aim is to spend more time in this nervous system and less time in the sympathetic nervous system where the fight, flight, freeze response takes place.
It took a health scare a few years ago to help me change things in my life to create more harmony and balance for myself and really focus on what I could incorporate to make a massive change in my body. This is only something you can do for yourself and when you are ready for it.
Out of the list of benefits above, which one are your most pulled by?
If you have a neurological impairment or injury, imagine the difference breathing could make on your body, how you feel, how much energy you have at the start or end of the day and how this may impact how you move?
Love and Blessings
